Dr. Harvey Hummel
Dr. Hummel decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine when he was a boy growing up in Bensalem, PA. He graduated from Bensalem High School and received his B.S. degree in Biology from Ursinus College. He attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and received his VMD degree in 1995. Dr. Hummel resides in Andover Township with his wife, Jill, their children, Lauren & Dalton, and yellow lab "Popcorn." In his free time, Dr. Hummel enjoys travel, fitness, fishing and Philadelphia sports (Eagles, Flyers, & Phillies). He loves all kinds of adventures in the great outdoors and has recently served on the Andover Township Environmental Commission.
Dr. Shelley Parker
Dr. Parker decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine when she was 8 years old. She grew up in an Air Force family and has lived all over the U.S. She graduated from Northern Burlington High School in NJ and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Cook College at Rutgers University. She attended The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and received her DVM degree in 2001. Dr. Parker resides in Wantage with her husband, Steve, their son, Carter, dogs Sachi and Opie, and several cats. In her free time, Dr. Parker enjoys riding and showing her horses, Max and Finnegan.
Dr. Wendy Turner
Dr. Turner joined our team in May 2013 as a part-time associate veterinarian, and as of Jan 1 2015, became full-time. She obtained her Bachelors degree in Biology at the University of Colorado, and continued her studies at Colorado State University, earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 2002. Dr. Turner resides in Mountain Lakes with her son, Francis, her dog Miles, and her cats: Fuzzy, Pippin and Merry. She enjoys long distance running, and is usually in training for a half or full marathon at any given time. Dr. Turner is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners, having a special interest in the prevention and treatment of disease in our feline friends.
Vanessa brings a wide breadth of knowledge and years of experience as a technician, teacher and manager in private practice as well as specialty practice, and as an adjunct faculty member for the Veterinary Technology program at Bergen Community College. Vanessa received her A.A.S. in Veterinary Technology from Bergen Community College holds both a NJ certification and a NY license in veterinary technology. She has a special love for learning and teaching, is a natural leader for our staff, and has a bright cheery positive personality!
Helga graduated from Fairleigh Dickenson University and holds a BS degree in biology. She has been a receptionist as well as an exam room assistant at AAH and has been a member of the AAH team for over a decade. Helga is especially good with clients and patients, and also a very patient (though strict!) instructor for new employees. In addition, in her new leadership role she will be providing guidance and leadership to the reception team. She also maintains quality control of our in-house CBC and chemistry analyzers, and monitors carefully the business we do with our reference laboratories. Helga currently shares her home with 4 cats – Smokey, Casey , Jack and Toby.
Bonnie has always loved animals and has 2 dogs, a cat and a bird. She has been married for 32 years and has a son and a daughter. After having worked at an insurance company and then for the Vice President of Marketing at a company in Morristown, Bonnie finds that working at a veterinary hospital is the most rewarding. Over the years she has attended several veterinary conferences and taken online courses through Penn Foster.
Jane has been a receptionist at Andover Animal Hospital since 2010, and has always gravitated toward animals. She was fortunate to be able to spend two years in an animal care curriculum in high school, and worked three years as a Teaching Assistant at the Wayne County Career Center in Ohio, before moving to NJ. She is very attentive to detail and makes a special effort to ensure her clients are treated well and their pets get the best quality care. She shares her home with her husband, three cats and one bunny!
Eileen has been a receptionist with AAH since 2009. One of her extra duties is taking inventory of the retail products. She enjoys spending time at the dog park or hiking with her dogs, Drake and Winnie.
Melissa has been a receptionist at AAH since November of 2016. She graduated from Delaware Valley University with a BS in Small Animal Science. She's always loved animals and really enjoys working with them! In her spare time she enjoys reading, hiking, and going down the shore.
Technician Team Leader
Born and raised in Queens, NY, Lisa had the opportunity to work at the Animal Medical Center right after graduating from LaGuardia Community College with her degree in Veterinary Technology in 1996. In 2002, Lisa made the move to Sussex County and continued her career as a technician and as a supervisor. She brings with her experience in Emergency/Referral medicine from hospitals such as Oradell and Animal Emergency and Refferal Associates as well as general practice at Madison Animal Hospital VCA, to name a few. She has developed an interest in Emergency and Critical Care medicine and has a passion for patient care. Lisa is a Star Wars fan that loves cooking, traveling, and spending time with family, friends, and her two cats Sith, and Skwrrl.
While pursuing a degree in exercise science/physical therapy at Bergen Community College, Shari quickly realized that her true love and passion lies with animals. Since becoming credentialed as a veterinary technician in 2000, Shari has continued to be excited about this rewarding career. She brings unmatched loyalty, cheerfulness and dedication to her clients and patients, and a wealth of creative ideas. Shari likes to spend time horseback riding with friends in beautiful Sussex County where she lives with her family, horses and dogs.
Steve is a Registered Veterinary Technician with the state of New York. He is always looking for educational opportunities and takes every advantage of online as well as local veterinary CE. If you need to know anything, no matter how minute, or you need to have something fixed, Steve is the one to go to. He has a special interest in anesthesia, surgery and dentistry. If your pet has had a dental procedure at Andover Animal Hospital, there is a good chance that Steve was the tech that made your pet's teeth pearly white!
Ashley is one of our Veterinary Assistants, and joined the AAH team on Jan 1, 2015. She is attending Bergen County Community College part time to eventually complete her Veterinary Technician degree, take the national exam and become certified. Ashley seems to have never-ending energy, willingly takes shifts to fill in for others, and readily accepts working overtime when needed. Ashley loves outdoor activities, such as fishing and hiking. She is also a very talented artist, her favorite media being pastels, acrylics and pencil.
Allison joined our team in March 2017. She has a background in animal control and has spent years as a veterinary assistant. Allison is active in animal rescue and is a foster to many a cat, dog or chicken waiting for their forever home.
